Water Softener

Eliminate the effects of hard water using professional series water softeners that remove calcium and magnesium at point-of-entry.

You probably have hard water. Left untreated, the minerals in hard water will cause yellow stains on plumbing fixtures and be deposited as scale, eventually clogging plumbing and shortening the life of appliances like washing machines, water heaters, and dishwashers.

Scale deposits not only cut down on the efficiency of these appliances, they cost you money, increasing both energy and maintenance bills.

i

Reliable & Fully Insured

We can provide solutions for inconveniences like these and much more by offering multiple types of home water treatment systems within the Aledo and Fort Worth, TX area.

How Water Softening Systems Work

Hard water passes through the media tank that contains resin beads coated with sodium ions. The calcium and magnesium ions are exchanged for sodium (or potassium) ions, thus softening the water.

When the beads have trapped the hardness and need to be regenerated, the control valve charges them with brine (salt and water solution) from the brine tank. As regeneration occurs, calcium and magnesium (hardness) ions are freed from the beads, replaced with sodium or potassium ions; and the system is ready to soften water again.

There are three basic types of water softener controls that are used in residential applications to manage the regeneration process. The control valve will manage the frequency of recharging the resin beads that clean the water and flushing the contaminated water out of the system.

I recently had John and his team with Elder's Pure Water come out to my home to test our water and give us estimates on water softeners and Reverse Osmosis water purifier to get bottle quality water at our sink. John tested our water and gave us... very fair pricing options up front. Chase arrived for our install right on time and had our RO system installed in less than an hour! I contacted elders pure water a few times for different quotes, which they quickly gave over the phone. This was the only company willing to talk prices without coming out first, and I really appreciated that. The install tech showed up exactly on... time to install a new softener/ro filter for our house, and did an excellent job. Including a trip to home Depot for a fitting, a bag of salt, and an extension cord for my new softener, the install took about 3 hours which I thought was incredibly fast.Really appreciated the great service and very fair pricing. Frequently Asked Water Treatment Questions:

What is water treatment?

Water treatment is any process that improves the quality of water for a specific purpose. Reasons for improving water quality may include drinking, cooking, bathing, or other household activities.

How does water treatment work?

Water treatment works by running water through chemicals and filters to remove toxins and hazards. This is done at both the municipal level and at a private level in homes and/or businesses. While a water treatment plant may make water potable again, healthy, clean, quality water can only be truly achieved at the point of service (pos). This is because the water running to your home or business, from the municipal water supply, picks up contaminants from the pipes it runs through. In-home water treatment or POS systems, run your water through an additional set of filters and media that remove contaminants that may have both been picked up from the city water pipes and those that may not have been removed to begin with.

How many steps are in the water treatment process?

There are typically 9 steps in the municipal water treatment process: Collection, Screening and Straining, Chemical Addition, Coagulation and Flocculation, Sedimentation and Clarification, Filtration, Disinfection, Storage, and finally Distribution. Private water treatment systems for homes or businesses can have anywhere from 3 to 16 filtration stages that work to remove additional contaminants. Some of these stages include carbon, reverse osmosis, UV light, and remineralization.

Frequent Questions

How do I choose a water softener?

Softeners aren’t one size fits all. That’s where we can start to help you. Based on the size of your household and your typical water usage, we can determine which softener size you’ll need.

Sizing is an important step, as it ensures there is enough capacity to handle your needs  and not so much capacity that it creates waste.

From there, you can choose additional features to make your life easier or to meet additional water treatment needs based on the results of your water test.

How much does a water softener cost?

This will depend on the size, features, and your particular installation. Elders Pure Water offers complimentary onsite analysis and quote to ensure proper equipment sizing.

Pricing includes the new equipment, the installation and proper setup, so that it meets your expectations.

A water softener can potentially pay for itself over time with savings on detergents, soaps, and cleaning supplies, reductions in energy usage and the extended life of your water-using appliances. Water heaters tend to suffer the most in hard water, and they are expensive to replace.

Why not just buy a softener from a big box store or online retailer?

Big box stores sell softeners that are made with lower quality parts to reduce the price, even if you get name brand.

You will still have to hire a local plumber to do the install, unless you are quite knowledgeable in plumbing.

It can be difficult to get any warranty work done from a big box store, and often there is no warranty from online retailers.

In either case, you will usually just get referred to a local plumber who may not necessarily have knowledge of your specific equipment.

So essentially you are on your own once it reaches your house.

What are the next steps?

You send us your contact info through one of the forms on this page, or give us a call directly.

We ask you a few questions to help us understand your specific water concerns. If you’re not sure what is wrong with your water, that is fine too. As we will schedule a convenient time to come out and test it for you (free of charge). If your water looks good, we can leave it at that.

After you meet with a water pro, and you approve the estimate, we will send you a contract. From there your project goes through an internal review process and gets assigned a specialized technician for your install. Our schedular will then get in touch with you to schedule the installation of your new water system solution!

What is covered by the Warranty?

This depends on the model and features you get.

To keep it simple, it’s best just to ask us when you are choosing your softener.

How do I maintain my softener?

Frequency of salt refill really depends on your household’s water usage and the efficiency of the softener. We recommend an annual service appointment for maintenance and to ensure your equipment is working as it should.

What happens if…
Just give us a call, our direct number is here on this page and most of the pages of our website. Plus, there should be a sticker on your equipment with our contact information.

What happens if I need help with my softener?

Just give us a call, our direct number is here on this page and most of the pages of our site. You will reach a local technician who can answer your questions, or you will be able to schedule us to come out and help.

Why should I choose to work with you?

The Elder’s Pure Water team is your authority on better, healthier home water treatment systems for your Aledo and Fort Worth, TX home. We offer affordable, reliable options to provide optimal water conditions right where you want it.
